Barricade the UP Board of Regents (BOR) meet!
The university assembly of ALAY SINING, including its collectives in visual arts, music, theater and creative writing, together with the organization’s chapter in the College of Fine Arts and organizers in the Colleges of Engineering, Arts and Letters, Home Economics and Education, calls on the PEOPLE’S SCHOLARS to fight against the worsening commercialization of education in the University of the Philippines and other state universities and colleges (SUCs).

Tuition fee increase now comes in the forms of deceptive STFAP and Barcket B certification, PE fees and laboratory fees. We can no longer say that UP education is accessible to the people it is mandated to serve! The past two years saw our decisive and collective fight against state abandonment of education through budget cuts in SUCs. In 2010 we faced the odds with UP STRIKE LABAN SA BUDGET CUT, and in 2011 we made history with UP STRIKES BACK. Let us once again make history in moving the status quo by taking the classroom to the streets to call for our rights with our fellow youth. A third strike for our right! Let’s support our Student Regent and barricade the UP BOR meet on September 20 to register our call against tuition and other fees increase (TOFI)!

Monico Atienza Alternative Studies Festival
on September 15. Enlist at http://bit.ly/monicoatienza
We urge the PEOPLE’S SCHOLARS to learn how the crisis in education is not separated from democratic struggles of the other sectors in the semi-colonial and semi-feudal Philippine society. Thus, we invite everyone to attend ALAY SINING’s SINING ESKWELA alternative school and the sixth MONICO ATIENZA ALTERNATIVE STUDIES FESTIVAL. Join us in studying the society and in changing it for the interest of the students and the people.
